How Can You Motivate Yourself To Exercise?

Exercising has many benefits for your body and for your mind!

I think we all agree that exercising at least three times a week is important for each and every one of us. Exercising has lots of benefits for your mind and your body.

It’s not always very easy to motivate yourself to exercise though. Don’t worry, you are not alone! We’ve all been there at some point in our lives…I had a lot of moments where I struggled to get started even with the simplest form of exercising. However, I can say that over the years I found below techniques to give me that ultimate push to grab my weights. Hopefully, you will find them motivating as well:

  1. Get dressed in your workout clothes as soon as you wake up: Obviously, this will apply to just weekends if you are working full time during the week. Dressing up in your sports gear will prime your brain to exercise. This way, you can fit in at least two sessions over the weekend into your weekly regime. And, if you are working from home, you are ready to exercise at any time during the week!
  2. Find yourself an exercise buddy: The goal here is to hold each other accountable. You don’t even have to go to the same gym together. Thanks to Zoom and YouTube, you can exercise within the comfort of your home.
  3. Imagine how good you will feel at the end of each session: Think about how proud and confident you will feel at the end of the session. You can take this a step further and imagine how you will look and feel 10 days and 10 years later. Imagining your future self agile, healthy and in shape is an amazing motivational trick.
  4. Try to include exercising in your daily to-do list: Remember the benefits of to-do lists? You wouldn’t want to leave the fitness section empty at the end of the day, would you?
